Ready for Mexico's most modern and progressive place ? |
|
Monterrey provides travellers with a wonderful combination of tradition and modern efficiency. Architecture and modern art lovers will adore its cityscape set against the saddle-shaped mountain called "Cerro de la Silla'. It is called "the city of the mountains"as it is surrounded by mountain ranges (Sierra Madre).
El Chipinque National Park at Sierra Madre is a must to visit. If you love bush walking, or just getting back in touch with nature, you will have a great time in this place. And don't be surprised if you smell a barbie... Monterrey is well known as Mexico's BBQ town." Arracheras" is one of Monterrey's popular cuts and do not miss "Cabrito" - (baby goat) it made Monterrey world famous. |
 |
| Terrific nightclubs can be found in the older part of town called the "Barrio Antiguo". For the sightseer there are parks and monuments aplenty. The "Macro Plaza" is highly recommended and offers many museums, galleries and restaurants. It is also the location of "Neptuno's Fountain " - a huge bronze sculpture of Neptune , right in the CBD.
The "Macro Plaza" joins the city hall with the State Government Palace and has lovely gardens along the way - as well as the "Commerce Lighthouse" with its laser-powered light (and great view). There is the "Bishop's Palace" which has great views of the city. A recent addition to Monterrey's attractions is the world's largest Mexican flag which flies from the top of the "Bishop's Palace". Modern with a cosmopolitan flair, Monterrey is great fun. |
